Presenting, Chennai TweetCamp!
about Events, Life, Tutorials on 30/09/2008 - like it?

After a loong gap of about 2 and a half years, BarCamp Chennai 2[BCC2] is all set to rock your world!

If you’re wondering what BarCamp is all about [as I was couple of months ago], BarCamp is an “unconference” – a venue where share, volunteer and participate in an open environment. The hallmark of BarCamp is that – there is no audience, all are participants! Participation can mean – giving a talk, demos, volunteering, or even blogging/twittering/podcasting/photography!

If that’s gotten you all excited, head over to the registration page – and enroll yourself. If you want to know what’s going on behind the scenes or want to sponsor the event/ take part in behind-the-scenes operation, join the BarCamp Chennai group.

BarChennai 2 is scheduled to be held on October 18th & 19th, 2008. The venue is being finalised, I will keep you guys updated.

Interested on wanting to to learn something? Do you wish certain topic to be discussed on ? Post your idea here!

And finally, some things on BarCamp in general:

And oh yes, if you want to blog on BarCamp Chennai, please use the tags:BCC2 and barcampchennai.

Follow BarCamp Chennai 2 updates on twitter Barcamp Chennai and if you’re going on tweet on BarCamp Chennai 2, please use the hashtag #bcc2.

See you at BarCamp!

The recent set of mails being sent over the mailing list has made me lose hope of BarCamp Chennai being a fun event, and is headed towards Geek/ProgrammerCamp/I-Know-Real-BarCamp shit. So while I was speaking to Narayanan, Ashish and Karthik the other day, Narayanan proposed a TweetCamp. Details being sketched out as of now, probably this post will act as a catalyst :-) What do you want to do in TweetCamp?

Numero Uno to comment here :)

Answering your question… “What do we do in a tweetcamp???” Hold a Mo-tweet competition… a thing of sorts… fastest mobile tweeter ;-) I’d get him/her a nice hot cuppa cappuchino… Tats me pitching in for twitter-goodness…

With the winning probability involving mobiles / networks / et. al. just one round is enuf to break ice!!!

Chao…

Hell. Bad developments. I guess the Twitter community is much stronger than Barcamp community now (even if there is some intersection). I heard directly from Chris Messina that Barcamp was started as a fun conf. – mocking Foocamp.

What I meant was that the main idea is ‘nobody’ controls it. What has to be there in it is still a collective decision which is only secondary.

Dude,
you got something more technical to attend and you’re rejecting it?
been to barcamp yesterday in mumbai..it was the 4th one held here.
And what were the sessions? few people marketing their products! here barcamp has become some kinda marketing strategy of few startups..
i envy you
BTW i liked your tweet camp idea…

@Unitechy We’re all for some technical stuff. Not for a something centred totally on programming.
Not sure which would be more boring – a few people marketing their products or few people digging deep into their laptops totally engrossed into bringing out the best ‘scheduler’ or best ’round-robin’ algorithm.

PS: have a look at the sessions that might be up: http://barcampchennai.org/index.php?title=What_do_you_want_to_hear

Hey I thought that the reason you were not going was because you didn’t like the way the thing was being organised :S

I mean, doesnt every barcamp have one theme to eat ?

Like the Hyderabad Bar Camp 7 is going to have all topics on e-entrepreneurship Which I personally dont care all that much about. I am just going to meet people.

What I am saying is that, isnt “programming , present and future” the theme of the BCC2? Or are you saying that a single session should cover many topics rather than a single one ?

Then.. hmmm, I think I should be angry at the BCH guys too :P

@Ashwin dude start following @dkris @daaku @cruisemaniac @the100rabh @susky @9_6 @hnprashanth B’lore twitter community is VERY active, have tweetups(and tw-eat-ups) often

@Reetesh there are multitude of reasons why I’m not going.
1. BarCamp doesn’t revolve under a “theme”
2. The organizers think too great of themselves
3. Organizers are bunch of pricks
4. They’re going to have Internet sessions without Internet
5. http://search.twitter.com/search?q=%23bcc2
6. Did I mention that the Organizers are Morons?

Lovingly written by Sathya on 06/10/2008

what? barcamp doesn’t revolve under a theme? then BCH7 is going to be a bummer too I guess. oh well, since its the first time I will be going to one, I will just go there…

for the sake of going :P

And lol, only two people tweeting about BCC2 ?
