Weekly Notes 28/2026
Week 28 summary - living the suburban life.
What's been happening
It's been another quiet week. Having got our car last week, this week has been take-the-car-everywhere. We've been fully sub-urbanised. The week started with my swimming classes - and of course, I drove over to the swimming center. They have a rather large parking lot and it's nice to be able to leave for swimming just 10 minutes before rather than 45 minutes before to take the bus.
Swimming's been going pretty well. I'm still struggling to swim freestyle, especially trying to get my breathing right. While on my back, I'm so much better and more comfortable. Feels good to float on my back and then move your arms back to swim. Hopefully, the freestyle will improve. Over the weekend, Jo had seen a armchair at Salvos and was very keen to get it, so on Monday evening I drove over to Salvos and bought it. It was too big to fit into the car, so I asked for it to be delivered to home.

For the days we have to be in the office, generally we take a direct bus to the office. While coming home, we take the Metro to the gym. Post workout, we take the Metro and then bus back home. This generally has been working well - except in cases when we get late, or have to switch to class instead of PT. The group classes run for 60 minutes instead of our usual 45-minute PT and then has a domino effect of running late for our metro (Sydney Metro runs at a frequency of a train every 3.5 minutes during weekday peak hours, so this isn't that much of a big deal). The bus home though, runs at a 45-minute frequency, which means any delay and we have to sit at the bus stop for a long time. Now with the car, I don't have to worry about this and just get off at the Metro station and drive home. The Metro Station has an attached parking garage which gives you 18 hours of free parking as long as you take public transport after parking, so we don't have to worry about the parking fees.
On the gym sessions itself - this week was the first where I had to tell my trainer to swap out the movements. We were doing our usual metcon of kettlebell swing/dumbbell push press/lateral hops and towards the second set of the push press my shoulders were so fatigued that I just couldn't do it. Not sure what happened, the next day it was ok, no pains - probably not enough warm up. Apart from that, the week went by pretty ok. Workwise, I've been continuing to refine the Cost MCP that I've been working on.
On Thursday evening, I felt like going for a drive so asked Jo if she feels the same. Jo nodded in agreement, and I thought of driving to Tallawong, but Jo said she wanted to go further, so we drove all the way to Windsor. We had previously done a day trip to Windsor, it was nice to do a drive this time. I pulled a Reetesh and found an ice cream shop to go to. We had a scoop of "Stairway to Heaven" which was absolutely smashing.

Come weekend, we figured we'll drive to a nearby reserve to do a morning walk. While returning, we had to do some errands - pick up a griddle, stop by Ikea & Costco for some groceries and decided to combine them all. We went over to Bungarribee Reserve for a morning walk in the Heart Crossing Loop on Saturday.

The day was also very foggy/misty and that made these spiderwebs even more visible. After getting almost lost in the reserve, we made our way to a nearby coffee shop called Harvey's Social. We had a coffee and banana bread and went about on finishing our errands.

On Sunday, we thought of going for a walk at Peel Reserve/Jonas Bradley Oval and asked our friends Amrita & Sathya if they would like to join in, and they did.

It was a nice catch up over a walk and we went over to Rosebank Heritage Cafe for a coffee post walk.

What I've been playing
Path of Exile 2 - I mentioned last week that I wanted to defeat the Arbiter of Divinity and I'm glad I was able to get it done! And it was live on stream in one try. Pretty happy with that.
