I’ve finally done it. Been contemplating it for a while, but past couple of days' turn of events have made me do what I’ve been contemplating about. What am I writing about? My tumblelog of course! I get lots, I mean LOTS of email forwards. Those subscribed to my forwards mailing list would say I send lots of forwards. But then I forward only the best of the lot, and that’s like maybe 10% of what I get.

Chennai Twitter Meetup [Tweetup]
· β˜• 1 min read · ✍️ Sathyajith Bhat
It seems with twitter everything happens instantaneously. You get instant feedback, instant replies, instant responses. And the next Chennai twitter meet was decided instantaneously. I was talking to Ashwin aka cruisemaniac regarding his day day in Italy, and he asked if I’m in Chennai. I responded in positive, and he told me he’ll be landing here and will be here till Saturday and bam! Next thing we know we decided to meetup this Saturday, and extend the invitation to fellow Chennai twitter users.

Most of you must be knowing that I’ve been working at 3i Infotech for about 11 months now. Yup 11 months – that’s how long I’ve been in Chennai – can’t believe, but I’ll save that post for later. As per the 3i’s joining conditions, I would be a trainee for a minimum of a year, though the trainee period maybe extended. The good news is that few days ago I got a mail asking me to fill in details about my reporting authority – i.

BSNL EVDO Availability In Chennai
· β˜• 1 min read · ✍️ Sathyajith Bhat
I’d posted previously that as of now BSNL EVDO is available only in the outer peripheral areas of Chennai. This is now verified by BSNL’s Chennai Coverage page, which shows the areas in which BSNL EVDO service is available and what can be the expected speeds.

Statuatory Warning: LOT of curse words ahead. If you cant stand curse words, well then fuck you. My stay in Chennai is turning out to be one big lesson as to what kinda pricks and dumb fucks exist in this planet. First it was the Chennai Cops. Then it was the stupid mansion owner.Β Recently it was a stupid hotel cashier. Chalk up yet another dumb prick to that list courtesy yesterday night’s sequence of events.

BSNL EVDO To Be Available in Chennai only in Outer Peripheral Areas
· β˜• 1 min read · ✍️ Sathyajith Bhat

BSNL Chennai’s website may claim that EVDO connections are avaible, but the reality is that they’re offering connections only in outer peripheral areas. Sad as it may be but the news is true. I’d paid a visit to the Greames Road exchange in Chennai to apply for a EVDO connection. Initially I was thrilled to see the EVDO device infront of me, all my excitement died when I was informed that there’s no CDMA tower in Triplicane, nor there is one in city. I was told that at the moment, BSNL is focussing on EVDO connections(in Chennai, atleast) only in areas where standard wired connectivity is not possible - areas like Perungudy, OMR, Velachery etc.

The Idiotic Hotel Cashier

Generally I always carry a fair amount of cash with me, coz I’m a bit paranoid as to what might happen if I’m stranded without cash. The set of incidents which happened just now will now ensure that I will always carry cash with me. I’d been to Hotel Balaji Woodlands for dinner - I don’t go there often, but have been there enough number of times to know that they *do* accept Debit cards.

Appraisals, Appraisals
· β˜• 2 min read · ✍️ Sathyajith Bhat
Past couple of weeks have been sort of “important” for most people in 3i. Reason being: appraisal time. It’s that time of the year, where you are judged and rated for your performances. It’s a 3-tier appraisal, the immediate appraiser being the project manager, then the group head, and finally the HR. Appraisal mean everything for most - whether you get promoted/demoted, whether you get a salary hike or not.

Happy Birthday To Me

Well on March 19th, 2008 I turned a year older….(wiser? pfft). It was a nice day, as I landed in Mangalore on that day from Chennai. I’d taked a flight from Chennai to Bangalore on the previous day, followed by a train from Bangalore to Mangalore(my post on my Maiden Flight Journey got lost in teh InterWebs :(( ) However the train was delayed by 1 and half hours, which resulted in me reaching home at 10, instead of the usual 8:30.
